Blu-Ray Disk Technology Moves to Paper

A new storage technology which utilizes blue laser light instead of the conventional red laser is now being tested with a new material, or should I say old material: paper!
Blue laser light features a shorter wavelength, thus
allowing more densely-packed data in a given space, and Sony and Toppan Printing
of Japan are now experimenting with a paper-and-polymer solution which
eliminates the need for fossil-fuel based plastics in manufacture of the new,
higher-density disks. Another plus of paper-based disk technology is
security; the user can shred the disk, certainly the most secure of
