|Texas vs. Sony/BMG Music - Attorney General Tells It Like It Is...|
|Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott announced Monday that he's filed suit against Sony
BMG Music for their use of a "rootkit"
spyware application as part of a digital rights protection scheme on their music CD's.
Mr. Abbot also called into question Sony's claims to have recalled all affected CD's, stating that media featuring the spyware was found on store shelves in Texas as late as Sunday evening.
|Attorney General Abbot stated that, "Sony has engaged in a technological version
of cloak and dagger deceit against consumers by hiding secret files on their computers."
Texas is the first state to sue Sony over the issue, but consumer lawsuits have already been filed in California and New York.
