One of the most important services you receive as a REALTORŪ is the
information, knowledge and political strength that come from being a
member of NSDCAR, CAR and NAR. As a single voice you may not have much
affect on the legislative or regulatory process, but as a member of
your real estate trade association, you contribute to a strong advocacy
effort.
The primary link between you and your association is the Local Government
Relations Committee. This committee is empowered by your Board of Directors
to interview and endorse candidates for public office, review and respond
to local government issues, take stands on issues affecting our industry,
and be proactive in the local government arena from city councils to
the
County Board of Supervisors.
The Local Government Relations Committee is composed of members from
each of the districts in our service area. The committee generally meets
monthly to discuss current issues within each community and the larger
regional issues such as growth control, transportation, land use, schools,
taxation, water quality, and energy. LGR monitors and participates in
the evolution of major political and regulatory efforts such as candidate
elections, the formation of sign ordinances, school bond issues, land
use debates and infrastructure development.
If you are interested in the government or regulatory process, you
are welcome to attend LGR meetings and can always apply to serve on
