Commercial Real Estate is a very broad category of business in the real estate field. It can cover industrial and office buildings, land, apartments, hotel/motel properties, retail businesses, and many other areas.

Commercial real estate differs from residential real estate in many ways. Some of those are: ownership of the property, financing, market area, holding period, and maintenance. These differences create a whole new training process, a new language, and in fact, a whole new way of doing business.

The Commercial Division of NSDCAR was organized to help agents and brokers face this myriad of challenges by:
  • Offering training classes and seminars to better educate the agents/brokers on the risks and benefits, as well as the hard knowledge, of commercial real estate.
  • Introducing new commercial practitioners to many affiliate groups who could be of extreme value in helping to simplify the sale or lease process. These affiliates include commercial lenders, appraisers, inspectors, attorneys, sign makers, aerial photographers, architects, trainers, etc.
  • Offering the camaraderie of sharing information with peers.
  • Offering the opportunity to "pitch" products, both live and by email, to other commercial agents and brokers, to allow for a quicker sale or lease or to find the right product for the client(s).
Our members run the gamut of experience in commercial real estate, from residential agents who are just starting to learn commercial, and have only a few commercial listings a year, to full time commercial agents and brokers. They all have one thing in common, however; they love commercial real estate and want to learn as much as possible about it so that they can do the best job possible for their clients.

Robert (Bob) W. Steele, S.E.C.,
has won numerous local and national awards, including the national Society of Exchange Counselors' Counselor of the Year award.  He was awarded Lifetime Membership, the Society's highest honor, in 2001, and in 2008 he was selected as one of six people as a legend of the Society.
